The words that recur on gigolo and male escort sites, briefly explained.
Companion
The term agencies prefer for the gentlemen on their roster. It describes what is being arranged: time and company.
Deposit
The part of the fee paid to the agency in advance, which confirms the booking. At The Men's Company this is due within 24 hours.
Dinner date
A booking where a meal fills the first part of the evening. Charged as a two hour booking, with about two and a half hours of availability.
Discretion
The understanding that nothing about the booking leaves it, on either side. For many visitors this is the deciding condition.
Gigolo
The common Dutch word for a man who provides paid companionship, usually to women and to couples. Dutch searches almost always use this term.
Incall
A booking at the provider's location. Rare in this part of the market, where the opposite is standard.
Male escort
The standard English term. Slightly broader than gigolo, covering accompaniment to dinners, events and trips as well.
Mediation agency
An agency that arranges the meeting between a client and a companion without offering the companion's services itself. The distinction matters legally and is stated by most Dutch agencies.
Outcall
A booking where the gentleman travels to the client, at a home address or a hotel. This is the standard arrangement.
Rate card
The published list of fees per duration. At Dutch agencies these figures include VAT.
Travel costs
Charged separately from the hourly rate and dependent on where the gentleman is based.
Straight male escort
A male escort who works exclusively with women and with male-female couples. Most Dutch gigolo agencies work only with this group.
Sample profile
A profile showing how a real profile is structured without describing an existing person. Every profile on gigoloamsterdam.nl is a sample profile.
Satisfaction arrangement
An agency's stated policy for when a booking does not go as intended. The Men's Company describes theirs on its guarantee page.
